How much does fridge removal cost in Halifax?
Fridge, freezer and AC removal starts at $135 — or as little as $110 when you book online and add a quick photo (save up to $25). Exact price depends on the unit's size, access and truck space, confirmed before we start. HST is additional.
What appliances do you take — fridges, freezers and AC units?
All three. We remove refrigerators, chest and upright freezers, mini-fridges, and window or portable AC units. We also take other appliances like washers, dryers and stoves — see Appliance Removal.
Do I need to empty or defrost the fridge first?
Empty out the food first — that keeps it at the standard rate. We can still take a fridge with food or contents inside, but it adds an extra charge for the extra handling. If you have time, unplug it a day ahead so it can defrost and drain, too.
Do you disconnect the fridge, or do I have to?
Our crew unplugs the fridge and hauls it out — you don't need to move it. We can't touch water or ice lines, though, so if your fridge is plumbed in, please shut off and disconnect the water line yourself before we come.
Can you get a fridge out of a basement or upstairs?
Yes. Our two-person crew removes fridges and freezers from basements, upper floors, garages and tight kitchens. Stairs and difficult access can affect the quote, so tell us about them when booking.
What happens to my old fridge — where does it go?
We haul it away and make sure it's disposed of responsibly. Working units are directed to reuse or recycling where possible. Anything holding refrigerant goes to a certified facility where the Freon is drawn off before the steel, aluminium and copper are recycled — never dumped.
Do you remove chest freezers and large units?
Yes, as long as our crew can move the unit out safely. We handle full-size and chest freezers, double-door and side-by-side fridges, and similar bulky appliances. For very large or built-in units, text a photo to 902-943-8989 and we'll confirm before you book.
Can you remove a fridge or freezer the same day?
Often, yes — we offer same-day and next-day service across HRM, seven days a week. Call 902-943-8989 or book online and we'll find you the earliest slot, sometimes within a few hours.
Do I have to be home for the pickup?
If the appliance is accessible — a garage, porch, curb or unlocked unit — we can often handle it without you there. Just leave access instructions when you book.
Do you take window and portable AC units?
Yes. We remove window air conditioners and portable AC units along with fridges and freezers. If a window unit is still installed, let us know so we can take it out safely.
Can you remove several appliances or clear out a whole kitchen?

Do you protect floors and doorways moving the fridge?
Yes. Our crew takes care easing heavy appliances through doorways and hallways, and works to avoid marking floors, walls or trim. We aim to get your fridge out cleanly, without damage to the property.

Do you remove the Freon from a refrigerator?
Not in your driveway — recovering refrigerant is a regulated job that has to be done by a certified technician with sealed recovery equipment, and it can't legally be vented anywhere else. What we do is take the whole unit to a certified facility where the Freon is drawn off properly before the metal is recycled. From your side it's one pickup: we handle getting it to the right place, and that handling is priced into the quote you get before we start, not added afterwards.
Do I need the Freon taken out before you’ll haul the fridge away?
No. You don't need to book a technician, have it degassed, or produce a certificate first — leave the unit exactly as it is and we'll take it. If someone has already recovered the refrigerant, just mention it when you book; otherwise there's nothing for you to arrange.
Do you also remove washers, dryers and stoves?
