For everything past what the city takes

Most weeks you don’t need us. HRM collects curbside garbage every two weeks, and a single-unit home is allowed six bags each collection — clear bags, with one black privacy bag permitted, and nothing over 25 kg. For ordinary household waste that’s plenty, and it’s free.

It stops being plenty after a move, a cleanout, a renovation, a tenant leaving, or a fortnight you simply missed. Six bags does not cover a garage that’s been filling since 2019. And plenty of what piles up isn’t bagged garbage at all — broken furniture, an old barbecue, bags that have been sitting out and split open.

That’s where we come in. No bag limit, no two-week wait, and nothing needs to be sorted or bagged before we arrive. We load it, sweep up after ourselves, and you get a firm price before we start.

How much does garbage removal cost in Halifax?
A small load starts at our $135 minimum — or as little as $110 when you book online and add a photo (save up to $25). Beyond that it’s priced by the space it takes in the truck, not by the bag. You get a firm quote before we load anything; HST is additional.
How many garbage bags will the city take in Halifax?
A single-unit home is allowed six bags per collection, and collection runs every two weeks. Buildings of two to six units get four bags per unit. Bags must be clear — one black privacy bag per household is permitted — and none can weigh more than 25 kg. If your situation is unusual, HRM’s What Goes Where tool or a call to 311 will confirm it for your address.
What’s the difference between garbage removal and junk removal?
Mostly just the word people use. Junk removal usually means furniture and bulky items; garbage removal usually means bags and loose waste. We do both on the same truck and price them the same way — by the space it takes up. You don’t need to work out which one you’re booking.
Can I hire you instead of city collection every week?
For a home, no — we’re a one-off pickup, not a replacement for your municipal collection, and you’re already paying for that through your taxes. For businesses and property managers who need something on a schedule, we do set up recurring pickups — see commercial accounts.
Does the garbage have to be bagged before you arrive?
No. Bagged is easier to load, but loose garbage, split bags and mixed piles are all fine — we bring our own equipment and load it as it sits. There’s no need to sort it either; separating what can be recycled or donated is our job, not yours.
Do you rent garbage bins or dumpsters?
No — we don’t do bin or dumpster rental. We show up, load everything ourselves and take it away in one visit, so there’s nothing sitting in your driveway for a week and no permit to arrange. If you genuinely need a container on site for a long project, a bin rental company is the right call.
Can you remove garbage the same day?

Do you take garbage from apartments and condos?

Do I have to be home for a garbage pickup?
Not if we can get to it — a driveway, porch, garage or unlocked yard works fine. Leave access instructions when you book and we’ll send the quote and confirmation through.
Is there any garbage you can’t take?
We can’t take hazardous materials — fuels, solvents, loose chemicals, asbestos or biohazards — and we can’t take bed-bug mattresses. Everything else on a normal clear-out is fair game. See what we don’t take for the full list.
